Psychological assessments in Karachi
Internationally validated tests, administered by qualified clinical psychologists, producing a written report. For children, adolescents, adults and the elderly — in clinic in PECHS and DHA, or online.

Where to start
A psychological assessment is a structured clinical process. It uses internationally validated tests to produce a written report on how a person thinks, learns, processes emotion and functions day to day. It is not a questionnaire, it is not a score, and it is not something you can do to yourself on a website.
Seven assessments are listed below and each has a page of its own explaining what it involves. But the honest answer to "which one do I need?" is that you are not expected to know. Every assessment at PHC begins with an initial session whose whole job is to work out which tests are clinically warranted for this particular person — you will not be given tests you do not need, and you will not be sent through a battery because a battery is what was booked.
PHC has run assessment work since 2009. Prof. Dr. Tahira Yousaf founded the practice, has practised as a clinical psychologist for over twenty years, and introduced advanced psychological assessments here. Every psychologist who administers one holds a minimum postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology and completed over 800 supervised clinical hours before joining.
Not sure which one you need?
Then do not choose. Tell us what has been going on in your own words and working out the route is our job, not yours — that is what assessment-first means in practice. Tell us what is going on · How fees and booking work.
The seven assessments
IQ testing. What general intellectual ability looks like when it is measured rather than guessed. Children and adults.
ADHD and autism assessment. Structured neurodevelopmental assessment for ADHD and autism — for children, and for adults who were never assessed.
Learning and achievement assessment. Specific learning difficulties including dyslexia and dysgraphia, plus achievement testing for school placement and support decisions.
Aptitude and career assessment. Aptitude and vocational testing for a student choosing a subject or a degree, or an adult considering a change.
Personality assessment. A structured description of how a person characteristically thinks, relates and copes — carefully described rather than labelled.
Neuropsychological assessment. Memory, attention, language and executive function, where a neurological condition, an injury or a change in functioning is part of the picture.
Emotional assessment and symptom screening. The structured first step that decides which further tests, if any, are clinically warranted. Most people start here.
What every assessment has in common
- A consultation with Prof. Dr. Tahira Yousaf. Every assessment at PHC begins with her. She asks what has been going on, for how long and what it is costing, and she decides which tests are warranted. Nothing is administered before this conversation. The consultation is paid for separately and is not part of the assessment fee.
- A decision about what is warranted. Which tests, if any — and that "if any" is real. Some initial sessions conclude that no testing is needed and that what is called for is therapy, a referral, or nothing at all yet.
- Administration by a qualified clinical psychologist. Not by a technician, not by a form, not online in your own time.
- A written report. What was administered, what it found, and what it means in ordinary language. The report belongs to the person assessed — or to the parent, where the person assessed is a child — and you decide who else sees it.
- A conversation about what follows. A report nobody explains is not much use. What happens next is discussed with you, whether that is therapy at PHC, support at school, or a referral to someone who is not us.
Who administers them
Assessment is a named specialisation for several of PHC's psychologists rather than something everyone does a little of. Falahat Awan states psychological assessment and psychotherapy as their specialisation, across children, adolescents and adults. Aisha Ahmad names psychological and psychodiagnostic assessments for children and adults. Amna Rasheed names comprehensive psychological assessments. Shakir Adam names clinical psychological assessment and diagnosis. One clinician on the team is a psychometrician specialising in psychometric assessment for children and adults.
