How Muhammad works

Muhammad works with adults, on relationships with other people and with themselves. The presentations he names run from the loud — constant arguments, anxiety that will not settle, a relationship that feels as though it is falling apart — to the quiet: feeling disconnected, unmotivated, or not like yourself.

He describes the work in three stages. The first is understanding the pattern: working out what keeps happening and why. The second is changing it, using CBT — practical tools for shifting unhelpful thoughts, reactions and communication habits. The third is growing with support, drawing on humanistic therapy, in which a person is treated as a whole person rather than a diagnosis, with their own goals leading the way.

On what he considers distinctive about his own practice, three things. He explains what is happening in plain language rather than in clinical terms, which he attributes to teaching psychology at university — so that a person understands themselves and not only their symptoms. He aims to send somebody away with something they can use from the first session rather than only a conversation. And he works with the realities of family, marriage and social expectation in Pakistan rather than against them.

He holds an MPhil in Clinical Psychology, has 2+ years of clinical practice, and teaches psychology at IoBM and Salim Habib University.

Sessions are 50 minutes, in clinic in Karachi or online. Which clinic and which times are confirmed when you book — psychologists are matched on speciality and presenting needs, not on who happens to be free.

You can ask for Muhammad by name when you send your details, and we will tell you plainly whether there is a slot and who else fits if there is not. Booking at PHC starts as an enquiry rather than a confirmed appointment: we come back to you by phone or on WhatsApp with a psychologist, a time and a fee, and nothing is charged until you have agreed to all three.

Everything on this page is general information about a member of our clinical team. It is not a diagnosis, not treatment, and reading it does not create a clinician–client relationship.

Speaking to someone starts here

PHC is appointment-only. Message or call and a real person answers — Monday to Saturday, 10am to 8pm PKT.

Not sure whether this is us? Contact us anyway. We will tell you directly whether we can help, and refer you elsewhere if we cannot.

Six details, and we can match you

  • Name of the person who will attend
  • Their age
  • What is going on, in your own words
  • Whether you would prefer a male or female psychologist
  • Online, or in clinic in Karachi
  • Whether the person attending is a minor or elderly

If someone else is paying, we will also ask for guardian or payer details. How an appointment is booked, and the terms that apply to it, are set out on the booking page.
