Working with children
Four years of Asif's practice has been with neurodevelopmental disorders, behavioural difficulties and emotional challenges in children. That is a narrower brief than most of the team carries, and it is the reason a parent is often pointed to them rather than to a generalist.
The approaches they are trained in are chosen for the age group. Child-Centered Play Therapy lets a young child work at something through play rather than through a conversation they are not yet able to have. Applied Behavior Analysis and behavior modification are structured, measured and worked out with the people around the child. Sensory integration addresses sensory sensitivities directly. Remedial therapy sits alongside schooling. CBT comes in as a child gets old enough to use it.
Parents are part of the work
Parental counseling is in their own list of experience, and it is not an add-on. With severe behavioural concerns, with a child who is not adjusting to school, and with children who have experienced abuse or emotional disturbance, most of what changes week to week happens at home and in the classroom rather than in the room with the psychologist.
The stated aim in their own words is promoting child independence. Where an assessment is needed first to establish what is actually going on, it produces a written clinical report that a school or a paediatrician can act on.
Sessions are 50 minutes, in clinic in Karachi or online. Which clinic and which times are confirmed when you book — psychologists are matched on speciality and presenting needs, not on who happens to be free.
You can ask for Asif by name when you send your details, and we will tell you plainly whether there is a slot and who else fits if there is not. Booking at PHC starts as an enquiry rather than a confirmed appointment: we come back to you by phone or on WhatsApp with a psychologist, a time and a fee, and nothing is charged until you have agreed to all three.
Everything on this page is general information about a member of our clinical team. It is not a diagnosis, not treatment, and reading it does not create a clinician–client relationship.
Speaking to someone starts here
PHC is appointment-only. Message or call and a real person answers — Monday to Saturday, 10am to 8pm PKT.
Not sure whether this is us? Contact us anyway. We will tell you directly whether we can help, and refer you elsewhere if we cannot.
Six details, and we can match you
- Name of the person who will attend
- Their age
- What is going on, in your own words
- Whether you would prefer a male or female psychologist
- Online, or in clinic in Karachi
- Whether the person attending is a minor or elderly
If someone else is paying, we will also ask for guardian or payer details. A slot is held once the booking payment is received — half the fee, at least 24 hours ahead.
